Conservation and accessibility for exhibitions

Make art and history accessible worldwide. We digitize museums, galleries, and historical buildings as interactive 3D experiences.

Our specialization: Conservation and accessibility for exhibitions for a future-proof optimization of your processes.

Benefits for museums and galleries

01

Global and accessible audience

People visit exhibitions regardless of where they live or their physical limitations.

02

Permanent digital preservation

Securing special exhibitions or historical rooms as a digital twin for eternity.

03

Multimedia communication room

Info points link exhibits directly with audio guides, texts, detailed photos, or instructional videos.

Typical Use Cases

Case 1

Virtual museum and gallery tours

Visitors explore special and permanent exhibitions interactively in the browser on smartphones, tablets, or VR glasses.

Case 2

Educational school class tours

Schools use the digitized exhibitions for interactive, media-supported history and art lessons.

Case 3

Digital archive for monument protection

Millimeter-precise recording of historical murals, sculptures, and building structures to document damage.

Re-communicating culture in the digital age

Museums are faced with the task of making exhibitions attractive to younger target groups and breaking down barriers. Using high-precision 3D scans, we capture your exhibition spaces down to the centimeter. The virtual tour becomes an interactive classroom or global travel destination. By integrating multimedia tags, we bring exhibits to life: visitors tap on a painting and immediately start an explanatory video from the curator.

Turnkey Integration

We support you from concept creation to on-site data capture and the final API interface to your management systems.

Cultural heritage in digital space: 3D scans for museums and monument protection

Cultural institutions, museums, and historical sites face a double challenge: they must preserve sensitive cultural assets for eternity while simultaneously engaging new, younger audiences through innovative communication concepts. Traditional exhibition formats reach their physical limits (space, opening hours, accessibility) and often fail to reach a global audience. FotoEstate addresses this challenge through high-resolution 3D digitization of exhibition spaces and historical buildings. Using state-of-the-art scanning technology (LiDAR and photogrammetry), we transform artworks, galleries, and heritage architecture into immersive, walk-in digital twins. We create interactive web-based experience spaces that remove physical barriers, elevate digital archiving to museum standards, and open up new educational communication channels.

1. Permanent archiving of temporary exhibitions

Curatorial masterpieces are often fleeting. Months of intensive conceptual work go into special exhibitions, but after a few weeks the loans are dismantled and the rooms are redesigned. Using a high-resolution 3D scan (e.g., with the Matterport Pro3 camera), we preserve this cultural moment forever. The exhibition remains permanently accessible as a digital twin in the museum's archive. Art historians, researchers, or culture enthusiasts around the world can study the room's curation, the hanging of the paintings, and the lighting atmosphere years later in 4K quality as if they were physically there.

2. Multimedia storytelling and integrated audio guides

A virtual tour is more than just a visual shell; it is a highly interactive mediation platform. We enrich the digital twin with so-called multimedia tags. When a visitor virtually stands in front of a historical sculpture, he or she can click on a hotspot. The corresponding track of the audio guide, a high-resolution detailed photo of the texture (gigapixel scan), or a YouTube video in which the curator explains the restoration of the object opens seamlessly. This combination of spatial perception and in-depth content creates immersive storytelling that far outshines static museum websites.

3. Inclusion, accessibility and global audiences

Culture must be accessible to everyone. Nevertheless, many historical buildings, castles, or multi-story old building galleries are difficult or impossible to access for wheelchair users, older people, or people with disabilities. The digital twin completely breaks down these physical barriers. It also liberates the museum from its geographical limitations. An exhibition in Munich can be visited by a school class in New York or an art collector in Tokyo in a matter of seconds via a web link. This global scalability greatly increases the company's international reputation.

4. Digital measurement for monument protection

The preservation of historical buildings (heritage conservation) requires precise construction documentation. Our terrestrial 3D laser scanners (LiDAR) capture Gothic vaults, baroque facades, or ancient excavation sites with millimeter precision. Error-free 2D facade plans, ceiling mirrors, and orthophotos can be derived from the generated 3D point cloud. If there is fire damage (as in Notre-Dame) or water damage, this digital twin serves as an indispensable, precise reconstruction basis for restorers and architects.

5. EdTech integration for the education sector

Museums fulfill an essential educational mission. Our digital tours are natively optimized for use in schools and universities (EdTech). Teachers can host interactive scavenger hunts through the virtual Roman exhibition or let students experience historical artifacts up close in VR (Virtual Reality) mode using Meta Quest glasses. In addition, the presentation of innovative, digital communication concepts is now often a decisive criterion for the successful approval of public funding and foundation funds.
